The Light Is Fading

The light is fading
As I'm pulled down
Darkness closing in around me
I hear no sound
I struggle up
Can't lose the light
But then I think
Why should I fight
Why do I care
If I survive
What difference does it make
If I'm alive
Everybody dies
That's how life goes
Why should that rooster
Even bother to crow
So then I stop
And cease to flail
But by not caring to live or die
I have just failed
My entire life
